One of my favorite places just to hang out is Lemmons (5800 Gravois Avenue; 314-481-4812), as much for their fabulous pizza and beer selection as the friendly people I always seem to run into there.

Manikin
The music they book is often underrated -- such as tonight's garage-rock triple bill, headlined by Austin's
Manikin (think killer garage-punks fond of doing the Watusi), fellow Austinites the
Hex Dispensers/Brotherhood of Electricity (more Cramps, more Ramones) and the Lou's very own
Vultures. Admission is $5 and the show starts sometime around 9 p.m.
Also, this week's edition of the Chippewa Chapel Traveling Circus is at Mr. Bill's Clubhouse (2718 Gravois; 314-772-6061). I'll be doing a longer column on the nomadic hootenanny in the upcoming weeks -- them folks are doing some super-good work and keeping local music fresh -- so keep your eyes peeled. -Annie Zaleski
