Arcade Fire's Will Butler Got Married in St. Louis

Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 01:12:50 PM

Aww, how adorable. Congratulations to Will Butler of the Arcade Fire and Clayton's Jenny Shore, who were recently wed in St. Louis. From the Ladue News:

Hometown girl Jenny Shore (Clayton class of '99) recently tied the knot with indie rocker Will Butler of the Montreal-based band Arcade Fire. The ceremony took place at Holmes Lounge, on the campus of Washington University, alma mater of Jenny’s parents, Dr. Bernard and Bea Shore. Jenny and Will met as undergrads at Northwestern University. The fun-filled reception was at Ninth Street Abbey, where guests danced to the zydeco strains of Gumbohead and were treated to an impromptu performance by Arcade Fire, whose 2007 CD, Neon Bible, has been nominated for a Grammy as Best Alternative Rock Album of the Year.

what i wouldn't have given to crash that wedding. Will has the most energetic on-stage presence of the entire band, and that's saying something.

Can you imagine walking down 9th street that night, faintly hearing the sounds of what you thought was the best Arcade Fire cover band ever, only to find out it was actually the band?

jeff says:

...and now that they have an 'official' connection to St. Louis, do you think they could, you know, actually play another show here any time soon?

I'm still bummed I missed them playing at the Rocket Bar in the summer of '04 - I was there four nights a week then when I should have been studying for the Bar Exam, but apparently no tthe night they played.

aw, that's nice. i got married at the whittemore house. given that i study at the wash u law library, i get to see my wedding venue quite often even now...

a friend of mine saw Arcade Fire in Columbia, shortly after the release of Funeral, and they reported that the Rocket Bar show was one of the worst shows that they have ever been a part of and were pretty much disinterested in returning to St. Louis because of it
