It was too bad about The Elvis Room, I was really looking forward to hearing some hip-hop. It was great that some of the shows were moved to 609, but when I tried to enter, they wanted to charge me a $5 cover despite the fact that I'm over 21. I passed. I understand there were extenuating circumstances, but arrangements should have been made with 609 to accept anyone 21+ with a wristband without an additional fee...isn't that what it's for?
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 9:44AMdespite spilled beer (or maybe because of?) left arm played one of their best sets ever!!!
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 9:57AMthe monads set is what an outdoor music festival is all about. wasn't sure what to expect from them but it was gloriously refreshing to see the chaos with the music, water balloons and people joyously dancing in the sun. that was a special moment.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 11:31AMCardiac Arrest killed as well. They packed the Halo Bar for sure. I hadn't even necessarily planned on seein' 'em but it was truly great to be there. Same with the Humanoids, whom I didn't even really know before I got talked into stickin' around for 'em (hey, I had noplace else to be). Agreed 100% on the Monads, which was no surprise. Wooden Kites did solid work as it was suspected they might. Bunnygrunt was a big, wet, awesome lei-fest--totally unstoppable. C'MON, MAY-UN!
You can bet I'll be back next year. BONANZA!
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 11:59AM...still hungover and I can't tell if its from booze or all the free monster energy drinks I drank.
First off, I just want to say that anyone who doubts the caliber of bands/musicians in St. Louis is insane.
The Duck Room was packed full of electric sets. Heroes of The Kingdom and Shame Club killed it, and then The Feed destroyed the remains... without guitars. Unreal.
We started gettin tipsy right around Victoria's set, which was perfect. I wish I could've caught The Monads. I love water balloons. So Many Dynamos would have been another I'd like to see, but there was no way I was leaving the Duck Room during The Feed's set.
That was the theme of the day/night; So many stellar bands and so little time. I'm going back to bed.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 12:13PMI missed a good chuck of the festivities, but I still got some good shots, I think.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 12:51PMI hope my dad doesn't let his new found celebrity from being in an rft slideshow go to his head.
Anyway...
Target Market: Most improved act of 2008. Really, really, really gooooood.
Quief Quota: Totally made me feel awesome.
Bunnygrunt: The party was brought, super hard. Definitely best vibe of the whole day/night.
Humanoids: real sweet.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 1:06PMHow can one perform in the showcase? I am new to the St. Louis area. Please e-mail me to let me know.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 1:42PMdid anyone else notice (kind of hard not to) the person dubbed as WEIRD GUY? He was a "street performer" who basically danced with a deck of cards and two purple fuzzy dice on ropes....Weird Guy was blowin' minds all day.
for the time i was there yesterday, it was a good vibe all around. no jerks, everyone was cool and having a great time. Im still bumming about missing bunnygrunt and queif quota.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 3:13PMI saw him show up in front of the Wooden Kites stage toward the end of their set. I was a little perplexed...who was that mysterious WEIRD GUY!? I don't think he was actually doing card tricks, he just mimicked like he was.

Posted On: Tuesday, Jun. 3 2008 @ 3:40PMI agree with Dave, Target Market was AWESOME, their new sound is amazing, and I for one am glad they are finally getting the recognition they so deserve. The lyrics are well written and not random, the melodies are innovative and reminds me of some of the GREAT music that came out of 60's!! We wish the best for Target Market!!
Posted On: Wednesday, Jun. 4 2008 @ 9:17AMSunday was absolutely spectacular. I didn't stop having a good time until Monday morning...
I don't think Weird Guy was actually doing any tricks. It seemed like the cards were just a prop for his otherwise weird dance maneuvers. He was pretty intense though.
I've got a review and a few shots up at my site, although the pics are nowhere near as professional.
Posted On: Wednesday, Jun. 4 2008 @ 9:41AMDave, those snaps are great! Too bad no one told me I had morphed into Fat Bob from the friggin' Cure!
