Band: Dead Confederate
HQ: Athens, Georgia
Website: MySpace
Sounds Like: Among our many blog post descriptions (this one aggregates them all), I think I like Shae Moseley's description best. Of the band's live show, "it was the perfect combination of mystery and familiarity." Of the band's sound: "They sold me on a brand of heavy, bombastic loud/quiet rock that I had resigned myself to thinking I would never be interested in buying again. If you’re a fan of Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Failure and Nirvana, you’ll like Dead Confederate."
Playing in town? Yes. Monday, September 29 at the Bluebird.
Song from: The band's upcoming full-length debut, Wrecking Ball.
MP3: Dead Confederate, "The Rat"

Band: Goldcure
HQ: Austin, Texas
Website: MySpace
Sounds Like: Guitars with the beatific shimmer of newer Echo & the Bunnymen, but dusted with a slight twang, mixed with jerky vocals reminiscent of a medicated David Byrne (or a less-husky Britt Daniel).
Playing in town? No -- not yet.
Song from: New album, Portuguese Prince.

MP3: Goldcure, "Make It Stop"

Band: The Yuppie Pricks
HQ: Austin, Texas
Website: MySpace
Sounds Like: Delightfully rude, snotty, loud, fast punk rock. RIYL Riverboat Gamblers and its ilk.
Playing in town? No, although a double-bill with the Humanoids would be entirely appropriate, if not probably cause the venue to combust.
Song from: New album, Balls.

MP3: The Yuppie Pricks, "Collars Up"
