The ballots have been counted and tallied, and so without further ado, here are the RFT's 2009 Music Awards winners! Remember, it's not too late to RSVP for our Music Awards party, which is taking place next Tuesday, June 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Schlafly Tap Room. All of the information is here. The emcees will be Roy Kasten, Christian Schaeffer and yours truly, so expect good times. BTW, Tom Huck also drew this week's cover, seen below.

I had a dream 2 nights ago that Karen quit the band mid-set (we were playing "1000% Not Creepy" at an outdoor festival in Alton if you were wondering) & so I re-named the band M Harnish & The Carrion Insanity. Should that prove prophetic would we be eligible for Best New Band next year?

Big Muddy Records ABSOLUTELY did ALL of the following things to secure wins for its artists:

1) Bribery
2) Blackmail
3) Robbery

Ok - now those three go without saying. But here's what most people wouldn't think about:

4) Daily delivery of apple pie to the RFT offices, but instead of being filled with apples they were filled with mind controlling termites.

5) Convinced Creed to get back together - AND TOUR - so that we could laugh at all the people going to see them

6) Got drunk DAILY!! That part is very important. I am drunk right now. Are you? You can be. If you really want to.

We'll be celebrating by watching Doormat of the Rum Drum Ramblers and Woody Pines at CBGB's tonight, and getting completely shitcanned.

I think it was more like a group induction than a contest among those artists. I guess it would be kinda sad to have someone(s) nominated in that category one year and NOT win it and then NOT be nominated in it the next year.

But yeah congratulations to this band and that band and whomever else.
