Chris Cornell Makes It Unsafe to Fly the Friendly Skies

Virgin America is the only way to fly to London. A few years ago when I traveled overseas, the amenities I received -- from the free booze and gourmet-ish dinners to the cute little facemask for sleeping -- blew my mind. And that wasn't even taking into account the music and movie selections on the hours-long flight -- selections heavy on British goodness.

But judging by the press release I just received, things just got a little less safe for those looking to fly Virgin:

Starting in October and running through the holidays, the entire Virgin America fleet will feature Chris Cornell music on all flights. His latest LP, Scream, has been added to the airline's music library and select songs will be a part of a collection of music that plays as passengers are boarding. Beginning in November, passengers will also have the opportunity to experience various Chris Cornell music videos and albums throughout their flight.
"As a new airline with a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system including more than 3,000 MP3s and music videos for our guests to choose from, music is in our DNA," said Dimitrios Papadogonas, Director of Marketing at Virgin America. "We are thrilled to partner with a music legend like Chris Cornell and to add such high caliber content to our in-flight entertainment library - the largest one in the domestic skies."
It begs the question: Do you think passengers can pay extra to have their flights be Cornell-free? Oh, and irony of ironies: Cornell is also performing on the Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien on -- wait for it -- September 11.
