The Brits are Alright: New Supergrass, Radiohead, The Twang, Drive-By Argument

Mon Dec 03, 2007 at 11:41:35 PM

*Supergrass posted its new single, "Diamond Hoo Ha Man" on its MySpace. It's heavy, crunchy and glammy. Two thumbs up. You can also download a live version of it for free here.

*Radiohead posted two videos from its "thumbs down" webcast, "Bodysnatchers" and "Jigsaw Falling into Place." Watch on the band's YouTube channel. The discbox version of In Rainbows is also out in the ether now; disc two is already being furiously file-shared as we speak.

*Thanks to a pal, I discovered a UK band called The Twang last week. Think a hardscrabble U2, with a vocalist with a Mike Skinner-like brogue singing, and touches of the Stone Roses in there. Very epic and beautiful stuff.

The Twang -- "Either Way"

The Twang -- "Loosely Dancing"

*Drive-By Argument is one of my other favorite new finds. Here's the video for "Sex Lines are Expensive Comedy" -- a song which, bizarrely enough, was popular with the New York Islanders. They remind me a lot of At The Drive-In, what with the kinetic keyboards and throttling guitars, as well as Maxeen (so, by corollary, a young Police).

Introducing Elvis Costello LOLCats, or CostelLol

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 11:20:04 AM

In the spirit of InterLol and Lolhan comes a recurring A to Z feature I thought of tonight, in anticipation of our Elvis C reviews (which are coming later today): CostelLol, or Elvis Costello-themed LOLCats.
