The Saint Louis Zoo called back, in the person of spokeswoman Janet Powell, who tells us she might comment at a later date about today's announcement by the United States Department of Agriculture that the zoo has been fined $7,500 in connection with the 2005 deaths of two polar bears, Churchill and Penny.
Meantime, here's some reading material, in the form of the USDA's consent decision and the federal agency's initial complaint regarding the deaths.
