Go! 9/7-9/9

Categories: Go!

Not totally satisfied with your weekend itinerary? Never fear, Go! is here! This regular feature highlights everything from rock shows to art openings, from delicious dishes to hidden-gem hangouts.

Friday, 9/7

Out Is In: Music, alcohol and fine art brought together in the great outdoors only can mean one thing: You'll wake up tomorrow alongside a nice watercolor portrait that you (gasp!) don't even remember buying. Art Outside offers all the above and more starting at 5 p.m. at the Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue; 314-241-2337); Brooke Foster gives you the details here.

All Washed Up: Relive your youth with Steve Ewing, former lead singer of The Urge, with an acoustic set of all the late '90s favorites from "Jump Right In" to "Brainless" at rBar (4054 Chouteau Avenue; 314-480-2415). Doors open at 5 p.m., and the music starts at 10 p.m.

Saturday, 9/8

Stretch For Peace: Get invigorated this morning with downward dog along with various other yoga positions, and enter a true realm of tranquility at Yoga for Peace in Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Ave; 314-771-2679). Alison Sieloff meditates on it further here.

Must Love Dogs: Belle-City Kennel Club (2448 Eastview Drive, Belleville; 618-233-9622) is celebrating Responsible Dog Ownership Day with a cornucopia of canine-inspired events. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. don't miss out on how-to sessions, which include demonstrations of doggie massages and CPR.

Dessert Island: Stop by Bistro Alexander (7927 Forsyth Boulevard; 314-725-9999) in Clayton, and try the Meyer lemon soufflé -- but remember to read Ian Froeb's review of the bistro in this week's issue before you order!

Sunday, 9/9

West Side Story: Catch a glimpse of houses on the West End Home Tour you probably can't afford -- but hey, it never hurts to dream. Tours begin at 5703 Enright from noon to 5:30 p.m. and will cover everything from new display homes to green homes to restored historic mansions. For more information call 314-367-7049.

Pluck Off: If you have a thing for Metallica or harps or strange musical covers, Harptallica is your new obsession. Check them out at 8 p.m. in the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center (3301 Lemp Avenue, 314-771-1096) for just $5. Kristyn Pomranz tells more about the duo here.
