Scenes from Election Day: The Heights in Richmond Heights, St. Louis County

I voted at the Heights in Richmond Heights today, right near the St. Louis city-county border. I showed up at 11:45 a.m., and the line snaked out the door, although it was moving quickly. As I neared the voting area, I asked an election official if this year's turnout was larger in comparison to that of past years.

"Oh good Lord, yes!" he replied. Earlier in the day, the line apparently wrapped around the building, with a wait of two hours -- at least. My wait ended up being a reasonable 45 minutes.

Interesting aside: I called my dad, who still lives in Cleveland and votes in Cuyahoga County, a.k.a. a blue county in the 2004 election. He mentioned that he had to tell the election officials there that I no longer lived there, because I was still registered there too. (I voted absentee in Ohio the past two presidential elections; I lived in Massachusetts and figured my Democratic vote was needed elsewhere.) So essentially, I could have voted absentee in Ohio and in person in Missouri -- although I didn't. Wonder how many other people are in the same boat as me?
