gonorrhea.jpgPlayas and hoes, take note: The Center for Disease Control is out with its annual report on sexually transmitted diseases. Once again St. Louis tops all other U.S. cities in the percentage of its population that came down with chlamydia and gonorrhea (right) in 2007 -- the most recent year in which data is available.

St. Louis reported 4,392 new cases of chlamydia in 2007, or 1,265 cases per 100,000 residents. The next closest city was Baltimore with 1,166 cases per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, some 2,577 St. Louisans came down with gonorrhea in 2007, or 742 cases per 100,000 residents. New Orleans came in second place with 684 cases of gonorrhea per 100,000 inhabitants.

St. Louis also ranked No. 1 per capita in cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea in 2006 and has ranked in the top five of cities since 2000.
