Free Denny's Grand Slam Breakfast: The Perfect Prelude to a Screening of "Paul Blart: Mall Cop"?
Yessiree, seems today would be the day to get around to seeing Paul Blart: Mall Cop, the celluloid insta-classic that has Midwestern audiences lining up in droves, allegedly because we're no-account lard asses who enjoy seeing other no-account lard asses make good.
That's cuz today only, St. Louis-area Denny's have been giving away FREE GRAND SLAM BREAKFASTS to all comers. That's right: two eggs any way you want them, two pancakes, two pieces of bacon and two sausages -- a $6 value -- FOR FREE!
Unfortunately for Unreal, the freebies only last till 2 p.m. So it looks like if we're gonna take in Blart today we're gonna have to do it on a belly devoid of a FREE DENNY'S GRAND SLAM BREAKFAST.
Maybe we'll just savor the Post-Dispatch story...
And, at Denny's restaurants throughout the St. Louis area -- in Pontoon Beach, Collinsville, on Linbergh [sic] Boulevard and in Woodson Terrace -- that scene was repeated with hour waits and workers reporting they were "extremely busy."...which, incongruously, bears the byline of veteran investigative reporter Carolyn Tuft.
Inside the Denny's on Hampton, the chaos was palpable. Servers moved in tight, quick rhythms, from table to kitchen to table to kitchen. But everyone wore a broad smile.
"It's crazy," said Robyn Wilson, 28, a server. As she balanced a plate of pancakes, she said: "It's just so busy," and then dashed off to wait on another table.
Hope she at least got a FREE GRAND SLAM BREAKFAST out of the deal.
