• I am a Realtor, I work in the foreclosure market. I sell homes for companies in the asset management industry. Virtually all houses sold after being foreclosed on have a lot of work that needs to be done on them. Maintaining and repairing foreclosure properties is a National business, operated by such companies as Safeguard, and Field Asset Management. These companies pay no sales tax, nor are they licensed as a forign corporation. What the field asset service companies is that they negotiate the prices with small vurnable individuals to get the work done at go broke prices, they substantially mark up prices of the work they have done and pass the costs on to the the asset management companies and or financial institutions who order the property to be listed and sold by realtors. Revenue sources: Sales Tax paid by the asset management companies is lost, Local income taxes should be paid by the asset management companies since the property is with in the state, manditory inspections to make sure these properties are maintained to protect the values of properties in the neighborhoods, Improving the tax base of the foreclosed properties. As a citizen and tax payer, we should take advantage of lost income sources to protect the states revenue in these declining times.
