Headline of the Day: "Lawmakers Cheat and Drink"

Ousted Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been criticized by anyone with a pulse over the past two months (compared to the previous six years, when the jabs were mainly given by Illinois residents.) And in defending himself since his December 9 arrest, the politician has often veered into the absurd with his references to English literature, Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

So while it appears that during interviews and speeches, Blagojevich hasn't always been entrenched in reality, he did a 180 today by stating the obvious: Politicians cheat on their spouses and drink alcohol.

Could this be a step in the right direction -- truth-telling, even -- for the governor who was "raised in a big city in a tough neighborhood?" Or is it just sour grapes toward the lawmakers who voted his ass out of the state capitol for allegedly trying to sell a U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder? I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough when a reporter (a few of them must still be staked out around his Hyde Park home) asks him about those comments.
