This won't be good for business.
Washington University's decision last fall to phase out sales of bottled water on campus has caught the attention of other schools and colleges, according to a story in today's Student Life newspaper.

The paper reports that a group at Penn State is using Washington University as an example as that school considers banning water bottle sales. In England, The Guardian newspaper made mention of Washington University in December when the U.K.'s Leeds University voted to ban bottled water sales. News anchor Katie Couric has even jumped into the fray, mentioning Washington University in a blog post she wrote praising water bottle bans.

A week from today Washington University officials and Kady McFadden, the student who spearheaded the university's ban, are scheduled to take part in a conference call aimed at assisting other schools and groups impose water bottle bans.

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay may want to dial into the conversation. Last August the mayor tried to ban bottled water in city hall. But as the Post-Dispatch reported last month, many of the city's bureaucrats have yet to heed the order.
