They're back! Representatives with the St. Louis Cardinals and developer Cordish Co. were in Jefferson City yesterday pitching their latest proposal for Ballpark Village to the Missouri Development Finance Board. Last week the team unveiled temporary plans to turn the site into a softball field. But the Cardinals still want to create a retail/office/entertainment complex on the site and they're wanting the state and local incentives to pay for $188 million of the project. That's up from the $115 million in freebies they were granted back in '07.

Police identified the body found in a Florissant creek on Sunday has been identified as that of Antonio Calvin, 18. Police have arrested one man on charges of beating Calvin with a baseball bat on the night of his disappearance earlier this month. Other suspects are being saught.

President Obama spoke yesterday with the crew of the space shuttle and took a moment to comment on the afro sported by Belleville native Sandra Magnus. The astronaut's frizzy long hair floated above her crown thoughout the president's 30-minute video chat with the crew, prompting Obama to call it "a real fashion statement."
