Forbes
magazine released its annual list of the world's billionaires this week and at least six St. Louisans are still rolling in the dough despite the sputtering economy.

Topping the local rankings is Jack Taylor, the 86 year-old founder of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, who is worth an estimated $9.6 billion. That's good for 40th overall.

Bill Gates led the way with an net worth of $40 billion, followed by last year's filthy rich gold medal winner Warren Buffet and his $37 billion.

The title for wealthiest local family easily goes to the Kroenke's. E Stanley Kroenke, worth approximately $3 billion, is the chairman of THF Realty, and is part owner of the Rams as well as the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and the British soccer club Arsenal. His wife, Ann Walton Kroenke, is a niece of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and has $2.6 billion in her bank account. As if that weren't enough, her sister Nancy Walton Laurie, who used to be a part owner of the Blues, is worth $2.3 billion.

The list goes on and on. You really have to read for yourself to appreciate how truly poor the rest of humanity is in comparison to these people.

But the best nugget of information to be gleaned from the rankings? The number of billionaires declined 30 percent from last year, and worst hit was Indian businessman Anil Ambani who lost $32 billion in 2008, 76 percent of his fortune. Don't feel bad though: he's still a billionaire.
