What You Doing for Spring Break? Mayor Slay Wants to Know.

Spring break or busts!

The RFT received an e-mail blast yesterday from Mayor Francis Slay's re-election campaign.

As some of you may know, the mayor is quite Internet savvy with his blog, podcasts and whatnot. He's also a big fan of so-called "mini-polls" in which he asks St. Louisans all sorts of pertinent questions, such as "How do you feel about Valentine's Day?" and "Are you ready for swimsuit season?"

In this week's poll (dispatched via e-mail yesterday), the mayor wants to know this: "What exactly makes a great spring break?"

Does it include cleaning out the garage, or hopping on a plane for a week-long getaway? Are you eschewing the scuba gear to pick up a hammer for a service-oriented excursion? Are you heeding the warnings about avoiding the drug-related violence in Mexico? And, in a compelling recasting of the old light bulb jokes, how many adults are enough when taking teenagers on a trip?

To illustrate the fun-loving nature of the question, the mayor has pasted onto the poll a doctored photo of George Clooney on a surfboard. Hey, we love altered photos, too, which is why we conceived our own of the mayor getting all jiggy wit' it at one of those crazy Cancun nightclubs.

Still, we wonder: Doesn't the mayor have bigger concerns these days than spring break?
