Cherokee Street's "Cinco de Mayo" Festival is "Dos de Mayo" This Year

If you can't wait to celebrate the Mexican army's 1862 defeat of French forces at the Battle de Puebla, do I have some good news for you!

This year St. Louis' biggest Battle de Pueba party (a.k.a. Cinco de Mayo) takes place three days early on Cherokee Street. That's right! This year Cinco de Mayo comes on May 2 (a.k.a. Dos de Mayo).

Festvities begin at 11 a.m. and last until 10 o'clock at night. Activities in the south city neighborhood include musical groups from as far away as Mexico, lots and lots of food and cerveza and a 1 p.m. "People's Joy Parade" featuring "drag queens, robot makers and (the obligatory) Mexican wresters."
