Hackenwerth grew up here, attended Webster University and got his start in the balloon world first twisting as Bob the Clown at Union Station and then for Team Fredbird at Busch Stadium.
Now Hackenwerth lives in New York, where he creates enormous balloon sculptures that look like sea anemones or vaginas, depending on your point of view. He brought some back to Webster for a show last fall. They are awesome.
Check out more of Hackenwerth's work on his website, where you can also donate money to support the series of guerilla-style public art installations he plans to create this summer.
