Steve Isom, the executive director of the annual Kevin Kline Awards honoring St. Louis theatre, is stepping down.

In an e-mail today, Isom stated:  "I have always said that I wouldn't run the awards forever. It's been five years and it's time for me to pass it on. I'm staying on and keeping the judging process going for a few months to assist in the transition."

Isom, an actor himself, helped found the awards in 2004 to promote and celebrate professional theatre. The organization, named after famous St. Louis actor Kevin Kline, wrapped up its 2009 awards ceremony on March 30.
