At least it's safer than putting in a metrolink stop, right?

So the Ladoosiers don't want a bike trail because poor folk and non-anglos might come near their homes and children? Fair enough. I say we build a wall around Ladidue, and they stay within their safe confines and leave the rest of us alone.

The bike trail should not end at Shaw Park but rather at the bike paths along River Des Peres in Shrewsbury. Failure to do such means cyclists in heading further south (or north) are forced to use Brentwood Blvd or Hanley Rd to get to southern destinations.

In addition, the path should connect with Lambert to the north if it is to be useful.

Trails that fail to connect are a waste of money and create safety hazards, not convenience. Telling cyclists to use the MetroLink instead is a waste of money, time, and convenience.

There are people who actually shoplift from Old Navy?

If I was going to shoplift in Ladue, I wouldn't be going after $15 blue jeans and $5 t-shirts. Seems like an exercise in futility.

The roads in Ladue are pretty narrow. If local bikers would use it, a special bike path would help get bicyclists out of harm's way. However, after living with all the rerouted Highway 40 traffic through Ladue residents are understandably tense about any plan to send more people through the area. It seems like timing is part of the issue.

In response to Bikelovers post:

This is precisely what GRG wants to do. GRG is planning to clear cut the trees along Metrolink's railway corridor, to preserve Metrolink's railway corridor and put their trail along the side.

They should leave the trees where they are and just put the trail right on top of Metrolink's proposed railway corridor. This would provide us all with a nice safe tree-lined bike trail.

Besides, the trail can always be moved later, if Metrolink ever gets approval to put in its railway. (as if that could ever happen)

No comments, no explanations, no response from Bikelover or gts re. trail connections. Got the message, GRG has no plans to connect trails and preferred destinations but many plans to build disconnected trails. Cycling commuters need infrastructure that connects, especially in areas where travel is less safe without it. Too bad GRG doesn't get it and they are publicly financed by sales taxes.
