Joe Webb Wins Jeopardy, Back Tomorrow to Defend His Title
Now we're pleased to follow up with news that our hometown representative did very well.
Webb, an English doctoral student, entered the first commercial break of today's game in last place with -$600. He closed the first round of Jeopardy (with its James Bond theme) in an even deeper hole at -$1,200.
But in Double Jeopardy, Webb came back firing thanks to a bit of luck and a poetry and literature theme that fit well with his area of expertise. Webb landed on both "Daily Doubles" in the second round and with some risky gambles was able to quickly catapult himself from last place to first.
He entered Final Jeopardy with $16,400 and a $2,000 lead over the defending champion. Webb then provided the correct question ("What is Louisiana?") to the answer: "Napoleon died before his army could take him to this U.S. state where his death mask now resides."
The Final Jeopardy question provided Webb $28,801 in earnings and $1 margin of victory. He'll be back tomorrow to defend his crown and we here at Daily RFT will gladly take a 30-minute TV break to report all the action. Back at you then.
