Counterfeiters Turn $5 Bills into $100

Today Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer sent out a release warning of two white males (of no approximate age) who've been passing fake $100 bills in the county just south of St. Louis.
According to the sheriff, the bogus currency is actually $5 bills that have been "washed" and made to look like $100 bills.
When checked with a counterfeit pen, the bills pass without a problem since they are real bills just not the correct amount.
Instead of using the pen, the sheriff suggests several other ways to distinguish if the bill is counterfeit. One of these alternatives is to hold the bill up to the light and look for the Lincoln face in the lower right corner. This is a water mark that will only show in the light.
Another alternative to the pen is to hold the bill up to the light and look for a strip in the bill that will say US Five Dollars; again this will only show in the light.
The sheriff warns local businesses to be on the lookout for any of these counterfeit bills and possible suspects described only as two white males with brown hair.
