Osage Tribe Purchases St. Louis Landmark

Here's a followup to a story we reported earlier this summer on an unusual home for sale in south St. Louis.

The house sits atop Sugar Loaf Mound -- the only remaining Indian mound in St. Louis.

Last week the Osage tribe of Oklahoma purchased the property for $230,000. The tribe plans to tear down the home and turn the property into an interpretive history site.

Oh, and a correction on the last article we wrote about the mound. Apparently,  Sugar Loaf was not a burial mound, but rather a signaling tower. At least, that's what the people who currently live near (and on) the mound say.

You can find out more about the mound in the great little documentary attached after the jump.
