Supreme Court Slams the Gavel on Former State Rep. Steve Brown

The Supreme Court of Missouri issued its final word today in the disciplinary action pending against former state rep. Steve Brown: disbarred.

Brown pleaded guilty to a public corruption charge late last month. He surrendered his law license at the same time that the Supreme Court's disciplinary counsel initiated action against him.

Brown helped federal authorities prove that his good friend, former state senator Jeff Smith, lied to federal election officials and law enforcement during probes of an election rules violation.

Brown and Smith discussed their cover-up at numerous spots around town, including the steam room at the exclusive Racquet Club.

Per today's ruling, Brown can no longer practice law in Missouri. He is to be sentenced in federal court on November 10.
