Forget Jay Nixon bagging deer for charity and Kit Bond's witty banter on the Daily Show-- Senator Claire McCaskill is the one true political rock star in the Show-Me State.

Need proof? She was the only Missourian who scored an invite to last night's lavish State Dinner at the White House in honor of visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

There, McCaskill rubbed shoulders with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, Katie Couric, and every notable Indian-American from Bobby Jindal to M. Night Shyamalan.

​Not to mention, you know, the POTUS himself and Michelle Obama, decked out in an elegant gold dress fashioned by an Indian designer. (Need to read the complete guest list? Click here.)

She also sampled a meatless menu of arugula, collard greens, curried prawns, lentils, eggplant and pumpkin pie tart.

One thing she didn't do? Tweet.

The St. Louis Beacon caught McCaskill waffling over Twitter etiquette in the hours leading up to the dinner:

Before heading for the White House, McCaskill announced to her 34,914 Twitter followers that she would forgo Tweeting during the festivities.

"Trying to figure out if it's tacky to tweet from State dinner? What do you think? I think Mom would say yes, it's definitely tacky. " she tweeted in the mid-afternoon Tuesday.

An hour later, in her last pre-event Tweet, the senator concluded, "ok ok...definitely tacky. But I will report in after dinner. love you Mom."

In her first post-event missive , the senator offered up a photo of her husband

McCaskill has since updated her Twitter feed with 140 character yarns about David Axelrod ("Talked about family...and healthcare"), Jennifer Hudson ("Amazing"), and Zuckerberg ("So young").

Granted Obama's first state dinner was held under a tent on the South Lawn allowing for far more guests than Dubya ever invited but still, props to McCaskill for representing her home state at the regal affair. You can be sure she made her mother proud.
