Time is out with its annual Person of the Year edition honoring the man (or woman) who most influenced the news over the past 365 days.

This year's honoree is Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke who the magazine credits with mitigating the damages of the sour economy.

Ranking in at No. 21 on a tertiary list of "People Who Mattered" were the two techies that Time refers to as the "Twitter Guys".

Quoteth Time:
In Internet parlance, 2009 was WIN for Biz Stone and Evan Williams. Twitter -- the social-networking service the pair developed in 2006 as a way of bringing top-of-mind blogging to the text-message set -- was the killer service of the year, with some 18 million people signed up to broadcast their thoughts in 140-character bursts.
Wait a second! What about St. Louis' own Jack Dorsey? Wasn't he a co-founder of Twitter?

Answer: Yes he was.

So why the snubbing from Time?

No idea. Though perhaps the magazine excluded him because Dorsey has now moved on to the title of "chairman" at Twitter  -- a position that precludes him from burdening himself with the day-to-day operations of the company.

But worry not all ye 1.5 million Twitter followers of @jack. Perhaps your boy will come through in 2010. After all, Dorsey has a new tech product -- Square -- that Time could deem the next big thing.
