​After five years of construction the U.S.S. Missouri, the latest of the Navy's nuclear attack submarines, will be officially christened Saturday in Connecticut.

And the spirit that will be smashed across the bow of the vessel? A 12 oz. can of Missouri's finest -- Bud Light.

No, we jest. The Navy has some class after all. That's why they've chosen to christen the sub with the pride of Hermann, Missouri -- Stone Hill Winery's 2001 Blanc de Blancs.

The Blanc de Blancs is a sparkling white wine made from Vidal grapes and distant offspring of Stone Hill's "Pearl of Missouri" sparkling white that christened the U.S.S. Missouri battleship way back in 1901.

Stone Hill Winery has provided the Navy with three specially crafted bottles for this weekend's christening. The first will be used for a test run, the second for the actual christening, and a third for use as a back up in case the second bottle doesn't break.
