The Big Bloody: Newspaper Delivery Man Shot/Robbed in Dogtown; Another Two Shootings Last Night Produce One Homicide

'Twas a busy night and early morning of murder and mayhem in St. Louis over the past 14 hours.

The most recent incident occurred around 5 a.m. this morning when a Post-Dispatch delivery man parked his van in the 1300 block of Kraft in Dogtown.

As the delivery driver was loading papers into a vending machine, police say a dark colored 4-door SUV pulled up next to him, and a suspect (described as a dark-complected black male with long, twisted hair) exited the vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim demanding money.

The suspect then shot the victim once in the chest. After the shooting, the suspect entered the victim's van -- a 2001 Ford Windstar with Missouri License Plate #WA2G4D -- and drove west on West Park with an accomplice trailing in the SUV.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition. The Post-Dispatch reports that the thieves got away with dozens of newspapers.

In other news...

Police responded to a call for shots fired near Bellerive Park in south St. Louis around 8:50 p.m. yesterday.

And finally...a 56-year-old man told police he was walking down the 1700 block of N. Taylor around 11 p.m. when two gunmen approached him and demanded money.
