Andrew Ringeisen: Overland Cop Charged in Killing "Police Wannabe" Ken Hamilton

Ken Hamilton didn't have much. No home. No job. But the 45-year-old was the proud owner of a Jeep outfitted with a police siren and flashing lights.

So, when the real police got a road-rage complaint March 20 that a driver in such a vehicle was intimidating other motorists with a cop siren, they knew just where to go. They headed over to where Hamilton was staying -- in the suburban St. Louis home belonging to his brother.

The police visit ended minutes later with Hamilton suffering a massive head injury that would claim his life five days later.

As the Post-Dispatch details this morning, St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch has charged Overland cop Andrew Ringeisen with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in Hamilton's death.

Neighbors described Hamilton as a "police wannabe", but apparently his admiration for cops wasn't mutual. According to McCulloch, Ringeisen and other officers got into an argument with Hamilton while confronting him over the road-rage incident. It was then that Ringeisen allegedly pushed Hamilton down three steps outside his brother's home.

Hamilton fell and hit his head. The cops left him there, and five days later Hamilton died in a hospital when he was taken off life support.

All cops are not bad. Some of them are risking their lives every day to keep your neighborhood safe. But there is a rotten apple in every barrel and the communities should stop protecting these bad cops and get rid of them.

I had known Kenny for years. As a matter of fact that is true about him being in the fight rooms on the internet, and wearing FBI hats and crap like that. So what! Some of you need to take into consideration that there is so much more to a person than those kinds of stupid little things. Had you ever heard him in the fight rooms, he never actually was "fighting" with anyone. He was in there making everyone laugh. He could crack up a whole room full of people. Without ever even insulting anyone. He was a funny guy. He used to put me in tears constantly. When he wasn't in the "fight" rooms on the internet, He was usually talking to someone, joking around, or cheering someone up, just having a good time. He was a laid back guy. He didn't care about much. He didn't have a bad temper or anything. I don't know what you people are talking about. As for the police wannabe stuff. Yeah he had that stuff, but so what. You can buy that stuff at an army surplus store. How many people do you see walking around with police hats and shirts and stuff like that? I for one see it all the time. And how many people do you see driving around in old police cars thinking they're cool? I see that alot too. I don't know how you people are going to come in here and talk shit and then say oh it's too bad. What a load of bullshit! I'll pray for you people and that nothing like that ever has to happen to you or your families. I hope you sleep well at night. Some of us considered it an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE to know Ken Hamilton. He was very near and dear to me, and will be severely missed. It's too bad you can't see how many people's lives he did touch and how many people loved him. Because let me tell you there are ALOT! He always made everyone laugh, and was always joking. He was ALWAYS there for his friends no matter what. You could trust him with anything. He was one of the best people I have ever known and probably ever will know. Kenny's death has been a great loss to very many people. He was very loved. I thank God for putting him in my life. (The REAL OVERLAND POLICE) Now they (Overland Police)just need time to hide the rest the best they can!
Ken Hamilton had his own home. He was 50 yrs old and he was 100% disabeled killed by Overland Police that just lost his wife by divorce. and tons more. The Overland police offecers was no Angel!!!
Ringeisen is going to walk along with John Doe 1 and 2. If there was not video tapes this would be all over with. Overland seen there was two sets of fideo cameras and only one video tape and the Overland Chief turned all 3 Overland Officers over to St. Louis county. He was not going down with the but, All 3 Officers will walk. no time.\ You all wait and see.
Ken Hamilton was 100% disabeled. He was 50yrs old.(Get the facts right.) He was at his home when Overland police pushed him down 14 steps and then Overland police shut the door and ran. When they (Overland) seen they was on camera they freaked. FACT!
I have never had any good experience with Cops. Though I hate generalizing things but it seems that all cops are douche bags. This is so sad. We trust them for our safety and this is what they do.

No one knows the whole situation. Why is it that just because the media says something we all believe it? This cop has to deal with what happened, his family, his kids, don't you think you could lay off a little unless you know the whole truth? It is very sad that the man died but if he provoked it and the cop was defending himself won't it be sad if a father and husband goes to jail for protecting himself?
The sad thing is that no one knows the whole story, only the police, the deceased and the the other staff involved. Its a tragic thing that happened but when drug dealers or gangs or any other violent individual threaten us who do we all call? 911 and who do they send? The Police, love them or hate them they risk their lives for us every day! I don't see any of you signing up to enroll in the Police Academy? Practice what you preach! Did Kenny have a vehicle with light bars on it? YES - I've seen it. Has Kenny been in trouble with the police for pulling people over before? YES - I was there. Did Kenny where a black hat that had FBI written in big letters on the front? YES - I've seen it. Did Kenny where a badge around his neck proclaiming he belonged to a "sheriff's dept"? YES - I've seen it & heard him say it. Did Kenny claim to be a marital arts instructor with a black belt even though he was obesely overweight with a number of health problems from neglecting himself? YES - I've heard him Was Kenny a confrontational person? YES - That is why he was always on those "fighting" web sites where you go to argue with people to see if you can get them booted off. He told me how much he enjoyed that. I'm not trying to vilify the guy it's just he was no martyr. He was told time & time again that he was going to get in to trouble with his behavior but he didn't care. He got off on the power of it. I think that cop should go to jail for what he did but I do think Kenny's mouth provoked some of this because I've wanted to punch him myself at times. It's not right that the cop pushed him but everyone knows Overland is corrupt - if I was able to restrain from getting physical with Kenny I definately think a cop should. Maybe Kenny's death will have a purpose & get the crooked cops out of Overland. He would have liked that. Who would have thought that Kenny would be the light that makes the cockroaches scatter? I knew Kenny & he was a VERY strange guy. He did torment people by pulling them over with his vehicle and harrassing them in a very "bad cop" way & bragging about it to anyone who would listen. So much so we ceased contact with him quite awhile ago. He drank ALOT & was on all kinds of medication and he shouldn't have been drinking while taking such prescriptions. He was a bit of a dilusional cop bully and tried to push people around for a power trip. We all told him that he was making bad choices by confronting actual police officers like he was the chief of police & acting like he was a police officer when he wasn't. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem he could let go of the false image of himself he created in his own mind. I hate to say it, but most of the people I knew who knew him (including me) are not surprised that this happened. It is unfortunate but not a surprise. My thoughts & prayers are with the families of all parties involved in this tragic situation.

^^ so its only easy to tell that your a cop. and its funny to think a cop is going to help you if someones entering your house as a home invasion or breaking and entering. By the time i get on the phone and call 911 and u guys actually get there could be like 15-20 easy. ya think buddy is going to stick around that long. once he find out im home im either getting beat the hell up or shot, or hes running away. most likely you guys will catch him a couple streets away (someone that fits description). i dont like the police i never have. they dont seem to do much for me except haul me over and cause an inconveniance really. like i own a mercedes not trying to brag or anything. Wow I am amazed at all the LOSERS here wishing harm to all police offices (remember like job there are some bad apples who will be removed). Rest assured that all the readers of this should know that these idiots fall into two groups: 1) They are the first to call 911 when some drug dealer is kicking in their door. 2) They are the very criminals that you should be very worried about because without the police they will be visiting you one night. Just a happy thought for the day from someone who is not in law enforcement...
It's a shame this man died, but I'm sure when the police officer left him, he didn't think the man would die. As things usually happen, he will probably be sued by the family.

Police are necessary only in so much as you can't control what you think about and keep drawing crap to yourself that you deem less then desirable. You'll never feel truly safe until you remember that you create your own reality.
So the impersonator definitely deserved punishment, after all, he's being an ass and breaking the law. But how unprofessional is to lose your temper over some ass-clown, and another thing entirely to LEAVE HIM THERE. Thugs masquerading as cops are a disgrace to the enforcement of law, and should not be tolerated. Cops who don't have the temperament to do their jobs professionally should choose different professions. It's one of things that differentiates Cops from gang members.

Police issuing speeding violations doesn't make the news because it is indeed boring. However, it is also something many people do not agree with- speed limits are outdated and do not address the ability of a driver (as opposed to a system with various license levels). Police play an important role in society but the public is finally beginning to recognise what a mockery many of them have made it and the misdirection in which it is headed. Thus they have lost the respect and trust of the population and without that sense of legitimacy the people do not feel obligated to (nor should they) abide by laws which they do not agree with. Examples like this merely highlight the more despicable portions of government plagued by such incredible people.

36k a year to be a cop; the only people that salary draws are losers, what do you expect? there are is a real problem with the requirements to be a cop and the compensation doesn't help.
I know plenty of cops and state troopers who have gotten their college degree (and not 2 year degree). Next thing I know, I'll hear "experts" tell me that no one in the armed forces has a degree either. You never see in the news all the good cops are doing. Only the reports like this one. No one cares about a news story that shows the cops doing their job. You'll never see "Cop pulls over guy speeding and gives him a ticket" as a headline, but you can be damn sure you'll see it on the front page if a cop so much as touches someone resisting arrest after an obvious breaking of the law as "harassment".
Actually the story is pretty accurate and matches the St. Louis Post-Dispatch version. What he didn't mention was that the victim had surveillance cameras that would have captured the "voluntary manslaughter", but the victim's brother turned the tape over to the police officer being charged. The tape was blank when it arrived at the police station. Just a freaky co-inky-dink.
If there was only a *few* bad ones, they wouldn't be getting the reputation they're getting now. But when you hear story after story about ridiculous taserings, shooting dogs, drug stings that go wrong, incompetence, ego-driven intimidation, the police union covering for corruption, speeding and killing civilians without their sirens/lights on, no-knock warrants, arrest quotas, and much more, you have to conclude that there's a whole lot of these "few bad one" (or they're the only ones that have gotten caught so far and the reality is far worse). And the worst part is, the bad ones aren't weeded out.

Cops are taken from the bottom of society. No one from harvard, stanford, mit, etc. ever becomes a state trooper. They're usually the folks who never attend a college, or have "some college" experience (aka failed out), or attending a 2-year community college.
