Doesn't seem like many blacks drive Priuses. But at least 500 of them do give a rat's ass about global warming.
You know it's an election year when your inbox contains not one but two press releases entitled, "New poll re: climate change, MO-based African Amer. attitudes."

Yes sir-ee, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, "a national research and public policy institution that focuses on the concerns of African Americans and other people of color," polled 500 black Missouri voters to see what they think about global warming.

And apparently, it's a hot topic.

Let's take a look at the startling results, shall we?

~ 44% of respondents said climate change was very important and 28% said climate change was somewhat important in choosing a Senator.

~ Even in an era of widespread economic uncertainty, 61% of respondents in Missouri would consider paying up to 10 dollars per month more in electric utility rates to combat global warming, and 32% would pay an additional 25 dollars per month.

~63% of respondents believed the U.S. Senate should pass legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before the next election.

Ralph B. Everett, the Joint Center's president, had this to type: "We continue to find that African Americans believe this problem is something that the government and individuals should do something about."

Surely any fan of Weeds coulda told us this, people!
