Jamarco Anthony: Alton Man Murdered Celebrating His Birthday; Brother Also Shot

Jamarco A. Anthony lived to see his 24th birthday but not by much.

Anthony and friends were celebrating his birthday Saturday night at a former VFW Hall in Alton when the party ended in gunfire.

The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Anthony was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds around 2:30 a.m. at a local hospital.

His brother, Jerrod Anthony, also suffered a gunshot in the wee hours of Saturday night and showed up at the hospital in critical condition.

The Alton Telegraph reports that Jerrod Anthony was injured in a similar nightclub shooting last October in Alton.

Alton police say they have suspects in mind in the shootings and plan to issue warrants this week.
