Matt Bartle Can't Understand Why House Republicans Won't Back His Anti-Nudity Bill

Update Friday 9:00 a.m. Bartle's bill passed and will likely become law.

Post-Dispatch political scribe Tony Messenger has an interesting column today on state senator Matt Bartle (R - Kansas City) and his bill that would ban nudity and alcohol from Missouri's strip clubs.

Bartle has proposed similar legislation the past eight years without the bill ever getting passed into law. This year Bartle's bill passed the Senate way back in February but remains stalled in the House. With the legislative session scheduled to end Friday, the odds are good that Bartle's bill won't become law this year, either.

Says Bartle of his fellow Republicans in the House who've been less than eager to pass his bill:

"We shroud ourselves in family values, and yet, when we're in charge of the process, we can't get a bill through."

To which we here at Daily RFT respond: TGFD. (Thank God for 'dat.)
