Mid-Rivers: Latest Shopping Center to Crack Down on Teen Mall Rats

They were running and jumping and throwing food and being loud and, well, now they're being punished.

Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Charles yesterday announced that it will begin turning away teenagers after 6 p.m. on weekend nights unless they're accompanied by an adult. The curfew goes into effect Memorial Day weekend and applies to anyone under the age of 18.

The mall says it's received several complaints about teenagers engaged in rowdy behavior on weekends.

In 2006, The Mills in Hazelwood became the first area mall to require teens to have an adult escort on weekend nights. The Galleria imposed a similar curfew a year later following several well-publicized fights in the mall.
