The San Luis Apartments that once hovered above Lindell in the Central West End are dead and gone. A wrecking ball razed the building last August, but that hasn't stopped a group of concerned citizens from appealing a St. Louis judge's decision to allow the the St. Louis Archdiocese to demolish the architecturally significant apartments to make way for a parking lot.

The group Friends of San Luis is expected to present its oral arguments for the appeal this Wednesday. Meanwhile, another effort is underway to raise funds for the legal challenge. On May 22, the group is hosting the third its Anti-Wrecking Balls. This one takes place at the Historic Stahl Stables in Soulard.
