SLU Basketball Players Won't Be Charged For Sexual Assault

Joyce called the allegations against the athletes "extremely serious" but said there was "insufficient evidence for us to bring charges against the suspects at this time."
An attorney for the 20-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped around 3 a.m. May 1 in the school's Grand Forest Apartments, said he and his client were disappointed with Joyce's announcement.
"It appears at the very least that there is sufficient evidence of violations of university code of student conduct, which, if proven, would support disciplinary action including expulsion," attorney David Korum tells the Post-Dispatch.
For its part Saint Louis University also released a statement saying that it will continue to cooperate with authorities. SLU basketball coach Rick Majerus has remained mum on the issue since news first broke earlier this week. Yesterday he again declined to comment on the matter.
