Brian Brooks: St. Louis County Homicide No. 12; Shot Following Son's Arrest in Pine Lawn

Yesterday's homicides occurred within two blocks of each other and appear related.
The first murder in Pine Lawn occurred yesterday around 9:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of Ravenwood. That's where police discovered a man in his 20s, shot execution style with a bullet to the brain.

Police arrested a 17-year-old near the scene and took him into the station for questioning. Hours later -- after visiting his son at the police station -- the teen's father would be shot dead outside his home in the 4000 block of Beachwood.

Pine Lawn officials have yet to say that the murder of 47-year-old Brian Brooks around 4 p.m. yesterday was a retaliation killing, though it sure looks that way.

Just a week ago, Pine Line and St. Louis County police got in a wild shootout with alleged drug dealers in the north county suburb.

Brook's death and that of the still unnamed 20-something yesterday in Pine Lawn are the county's eleventh and twelfth homicides of the year.
