Fish Caught Near Chicago Freaks out Northern Midwest

A fisherman in Lake Calumet near Chicago netted a 19-pound Asian carp Tuesday.
Now a U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan is calling for the entire area where the fish was hooked to be poisoned to kill any other Asian carp that might be there. She's also demanding that Illinois close off the locks connecting the Chicago River with the Lake Michigan.
At issue is the $7-billion-a-year commercial fishing industry of the Great Lakes, which fears that the voracious Asian carp could wipe out native fish species.
