The department store went bankrupt during the Great Depression, though its legacy survived for years after that with its skybridge over St. Charles Avenue. Remind you of any other failed shopping center in St. Louis in more recent eras?
Blogger (and architect) Paul Hohmann has a nice little piece about Nugent's and its old skybridge at his great little website, Vanishing STL.
