Here's the kind of exhibit you'll see at the "Museum of Broken Relationships," a global gallery of true heartbreak souvenirs that's currently running in the Schlafly branch of the St. Louis Public Library until June 27:
(it's a sad and funny place)
"People destroy memories," says Olinka Vištica, the Croatian who co-founded the collection after going through her own break-up. "We thought that was a cruel way to deal with the emotional past."
Hence this quirky collection of some 300 exhibits that has already shown in Central Europe, the Philipines, Turkey and South Africa (it's off to Bulgaria, Brazil and Portugal next). Wherever it goes, Vištica, people add their own exhibits.
