It took investigators five days to identify the body found burning Tuesday in East St. Louis as that of Zachary Irvin, 22.

The Major Case Squad made the announcement Saturday, saying that they've also filed charges against two men they believe killed Irvin and then set his dismembered body afire in a vacant lot June 22.

Charged with murder and concealment of a homicide was Dennis Iagulli, 41; charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a felon was James Pierson, 35.

The Major Case Squad gave few other details about the Irvin's alleged killers and what may have led them to commit the crime.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Iagulli and Irvin were both homeless. Iagulli is being held on $3 million bail.

According to the Post-Dispatch, Irvin recently moved to St. Louis from St. Elmo, Illinois, near Effingham.
