Alligator Pulled from Creek in DeSoto May Have Feasted on Foxes

​You think the E. coli living in Missouri streams and rivers is scary?

Try discovering an alligator living in a creek outside DeSoto. That's what local law officers found swimming in Joachim Creek yesterday.

Officer Rick Draper told KMOX yesterday that someone probably dumped the two-foot long reptile in the creek when it became too big to keep as a pet. Judging from the size of the gator, Draper speculates that it ate plenty of fish and maybe even a fox or two. What!? Foxes?

"We do have some fox in the area, so it's possible that it could've been eating fox, too," said Draper.

The animal is now being housed at a bird sanctuary before it finds a new home. Wonder if the people there know that -- in addition to eating foxes -- gators also like the taste of bird?
