Catfish-zilla Caught in Missouri River: Beast Weighs in at 130 Pounds

A Florissant man may have caught a world-record catfish Tuesday morning. The beast weighed in at 130 pounds -- or 6 pounds more than the one caught in 2005 outside Alton.

Greg Bernal, an unemployed land-surveyor, and his girlfriend Janet Momphard, were fishing the Missouri River near the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area when the fish struck around 1 a.m. Tuesday. It would take the pair nearly a half-hour to heave the fish into their boat after reeling it in.

The fish is estimated to be 25 to 30 years old. Bernal used a filet of Asian Carp as bait and a 40-pound test line. Video of the beast after the jump:
