At last we've got a crime story with a happy ending. Alisa Maier, the four-year-old girl who was snatched from her front yard in Louisiana, Missouri, on Monday was found yesterday in Fenton, more 80 miles away.

KSDK-TV (Channel 5) reports that several witnesses saw a child get out of a car at a gas-station car wash on Gravois Road in old town Fenton around 9:45 last night and called the police. Officers arriving at the scene identified her as Maier and took her to SSM St. Clare Medical Center for tests and then the West County precinct.

After further tests at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, Maier was released to her family at 4:30 this morning. Her grandfather confirmed that, aside from a haircut, she was unharmed.

Police are still looking for her suspected kidnapper, who has been described as a dark-skinned, dark-haired Caucasian man in his early 30s who was driving a black or brown four-door car (possibly a Ford Escort) with missing wheel covers and a bad muffler.
