|Yes, this sweet little dog tried to take out a chainsaw.|
That dog, two-year-old Darci, just won third place in the Hambone Awards for her ferocious behavior. The awards, given by the Veterinary Pet Insurance Company, honor the nation's most unusual pet insurance claims.
Darci's owners submitted their claim after she lunged at the chainsaw while her owner was using it to trim a tree. She needed four stitches after biting the tool, although she's apparently A-OK today.
But if you're wondering how Darci managed to finish third -- just how many dogs get close to working chainsaws, much less are spunky enough to (almost) lose their noses to them? -- well, you've obviously never spent much time around a curious/stubborn/stupid dog.
(And yes, we're convinced that most dogs are a combination of all three!)
Second place, the Post-Dispatch tells us, goes to Aubie, of Birmingham, Alabama, who actually lept through a plate glass window to chase the mailman.
And the winner of this year's actual Hambone Trophy? Ellie of Santee, California. This intrepid Labrador retriever attacked a beehive -- and subsequently ate the entire colony of bees.
Yeah, that one had to hurt.
