Pujols, La Russa to Attend Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally

• Just when I think the debate is over, BOB shows up. What about Bob?? Ok, I'll tell you: 1. Bob says it isn't about honor and references that G.B. says Obama is "leading Anerica [sic] towards Nazi Germany." Funny, thing, these same references were constantly made towards G.W.B. SO, since both the left and the right are doing it - and you have identified it as dishonorable - I'm going to go ahead and agree that Honor needs to be restored. 2. I have to smile about the reference about Obama is black so he can't be racist. First, technically he is mullato, not black. Actually, I would have to say he is more white than black, since he was raised by his white mother. Anyway, this is all beside the point. I'm going to "F---" you up with some truth here... but black people can be racist!!!! Another thing: women can be sexist!!! I don't know if there is a known case, but I bet there is a gay-homophobe running around somewhere! 3. Obama is racist, or atleast his pastor of 20+ years is. I don't know about you, but if my pastor talks shit about black people and I attend his church for 20+ years, then I probably agree with him. (Note for the idiots: my pastor doesn't talk shit about black people). 4. LaRussa shouldn't have been admitted to law school? Where do you get this shit? 5. Beck raised $5.5 Million for the Special Operations Warrior Fund from this event. (It is noteworthy that Beck isn't a wounded special ops. veteran, therefore, he didn't benefit from it) 6. I have read your post ten times now and can't conclude what Mark McGuire has to do with any point you may have been trying to make. Anyway, my head hurts. You have completely sucked the life out of me. I'd rather rub my balls with sandpaper then try to explain anything else to you, so I'll give you the last word.

• Beck is trying to "restore honor" and "reclaim the civil rights movement" but of course none of this is political. Honor....Beck called the President a racist and claimed that Obama was leading Anerica toiwards Nazi Germany. Reclaim civil rights....how does one do that when one opines that the President who happens to be black is a racist? I guess beck is trying to reclaim civil rights for whites which is a joke by itself. Religious......Beck was born Roman Catholic and left the church to become a Mormon. This year LaRussa stated that he agreed with some principles of the Tea Party and agreed with the Az. immigration law. Both are political positions. LaRussa also claimed that McGwire never did steroids after McGwire admitted to taking Andro which is a first cousin to anabloic steroids and a drug which is now banned by MLB even though it was previosuly banned by other professional sports leagues. So LaRussa is attending because Beck and Palin will not be political? LaRussa should have never been admitted to law school or he is so arrogant that he thinks people are dumb enough to believe his ridiculous comments. Instead of appearing at political rallies which are being used solely to benefit Beck (since Beck does nothing that does not benefit himself), LaRussa should be concentrating on how to win baseball games and how to make the playoffs. How many times did the Nationals beat the Cardinals?

• Buzz Bissinger made a vicious attack against Albert Puhols, Tony Larussa and American patriotism. If you think American patriotism is OK, just simply place another book in front of any Bissinger book you may see at the local book store on your next visit as a quite protest. Works quite well. A simple way to let Mr. Bissinger know America is not really that bad.

• Kenny Powers, I like your style. You are very perceptive. One more thing about penises. Once I saw a kid run out of a restroom with his drawers down. I thought I was looking at an alien from Mars, as he was not circumcised. For what its worth, a circumcised penis is much more attractive than one that is not. Call me vain, but I think my husband is very attractive all things considered. I would never marry an uncircumcised man. • Steve, Your problem is that you use too much logic; you will get no where with these people unless you wear a shirt with Che GGuevara and put a Coexist bumper sticker on your VW Jetta/Subaru Outback.

• Woooooweeee...where is all that liberal "love" and "acceptance"????? Colbert wishes he had half the audience Mr. Beck has. Jealousy?? Naw... By the way, in case you only watch MSNBC, Dr. Alvita King, neice of Dr. King, will be addressing the rally...that Glenn is so sneaky...he even fooled a member of the King family into coming and being a part of what could be a great day for AMERICA. For everyone that thinks this day was chosen on purpose to dishonor Dr. King, how many of you KNEW the date he gave his speech?

• Ron, if Sarah Palin is not a main speaker then why does Glenn Beck's web site state 'The speakers include representatives from SOWF, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Dr. Alveda King and Marcus Luttrell. Jo Dee Messina will be performing as well.' It seems as if Glenn considers her to be one of the main speakers.

• Sonia- I'll make this elementary (so you can understand): Chad took a stab at the struggling Cardinals and suggested Albert/Tony have more important things ways to spend their time on than the event. The same thing should be said about Obama (you are the only one talking about GWB... I guess you assume I'm a fan?). Also, do you have anything to back up the Palin/Honor claim or are you just jealous that she is the only real feminist in politics? Since she is wealthy, she pays more in taxes, which Biden has already claimed as "patriotic." MC- I would be willing to bet that you have NEVER ran a charitable fundraiser in your life. I have, so I'll give you some insight. Now -- hold on to your seat -- when an event is large the expenses are paid from money raised, the remainder is given to charity. Big Events = More $ Given to Charity. The idea is to raise money from many people (which makes a larger sum), otherwise Glenn could just make what is called a "charitable donation". Dr. Discretion- Albert cares about raising money for his foundation; the award he is receiving will generate more awareness for it (i.e. more money). Incidentally, the people that attend/watch this sort of a rally are the "target market" for charitable donations. I'm guessing you aren't in that target market... For the rest of you that bash Albert/Tony for participating... don't act like you were ever Cardinals fans to begin with. Tony tried his best to attract you with "Bring Your Dog to the Park Day", but it obviously isn't enough. If the Cardinals, or MLB, cared about your support then they would have "Abort your Baby Day" or "Bash the Troops Day"... Until then, you are just going to have to support your local theatre and hand out petitions to prevent childhood circumcisions. (Food For Thought- All of the anti-circumcision protestors seem to be women. These women don't want men to have a say about their bodies (i.e. abortion). However, they want a say in what happens to my son's penis. Are they the hero -- protector of the penis -- or are they the villain -- i.e. control the penis = control the planet. Personally, I don't trust any of those smelling little skanks...)

• Colbert's piece is a typical left wing response and is in line with all the media in this nation. Total ignorant propaganda...

• Albert and Tony can and should do whatever they want to do on their own time!!! More power to them for caring about our historical past and our nation's most important asset, it citizens!

• I do not understand why you are so negative about this rally. There are rallies in DC all the time. Beck has every right to hold a rally and speak his mind. He and others do it every day (ie Rush, Rachel Maddow, etc). Trying to tear it down before it is held is wrong. Wait until you see what happens. Also, your personal beliefs should not be forced on your readers, although that is what journalism is about in today's world! Journalism has lost it's historical focus and credibility. No one believes what they read or hear anymore, which is why the Internet, as a tool for individual research, has taken off!

• It is sad that you feel compelled to make snide and inaccurate remarks about the 8/28 gathering to Restore Honor. Your attitude is far removed from honorable. Sarah Palin is not a main speaker. She will be presenting Merit Honors to three worthy recipients. IT IS A NON POLITICAL APPEARANCE. This is the Purple Heart honor that President George Washington established before it was appropriated by the army for being wounded in battle. Your cynical attitude is shameful. People are coming because of their rightful concern for the ethical and moral condition of America. The founders of this country made it abundantly clear that without a moral and religious God respecting population, the American Republic experiment could not succeed (George Washington, Sam Adams, and many others). Your cynicism cannot offer anything of value expect a hard heart and empty world.

• As for the raising money part, the tiny print on the website notes that FIRST, funds raised will be used to offset the cost of the rally. THEN, anything left will be donated. So the multi-millionaire Beck is not *really* putting on a fundraiser. He just wants people to think he is. Which is kind of how his version of "honor" works.

• Seriously Kenny? Didn't GWB take more vacation days than any other president in US history? The whole conservative rap of "do what I say and not as I do" is getting seriously old. I also think that having Sarah Palin and "honor" in the same sentence is a bit of an oxymoron.

• I agree, the Cardinals need to concentrate on winning. BUT, if our President can find time to golf and vacation so much I wouldn't slam Albert/Tony about going to an event for a couple of hours while the HAPPEN TO BE IN DC. I mean, they aren't taking the next 10 days off for Martha's Vineyard, right? They did make a trip to Florida earlier this month, just as Obama did, but they were playing the Marlins. Who knows, they may have made a trip to the beach... It sounds to me like you need a separation of church & Cardinals...
