Roy Handley Jr: Convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
The man found hiding in a trash bin moments after the shooting death of 18-year-old Dana Ramey in September 2007 was convicted yesterday of her murder.

Roy Handley Jr., now 27, was walking with Ramey and her 4-year-old daughter when he pulled out a gun and shot her in the back of the head right in front of the child. The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. September 8, just behind the Kirkwood Commons shopping center in the Meacham Park neighborhood.

Surveillance cameras form one of the stores showed Handley running from the scene and tossing his .22-caliber revolver on top of a Dumpster. Police found Handley moments later hiding in a nearby trash bin.

The Post-Dispatch reports this morning that Handley tried to fire his defense attorney prior to the start of the trial. He then objected to nearly all proceedings in the trial. Oh, and his mother got kicked out of the courtroom for hitting someone with her cane. Stay classy, Handley family.

Ramey had briefly dated Handley before calling it off yet he continued to try to court her. A previous boyfriend and the father of her child (that she had at age 14 if my math is correct) is Kevin Johnson who sits on Missouri's death row for killing Kirkwood police officer William McEntee in 2005.
