Cal Ripken Jr. Comes to Town, Keeps Going and Going...

Baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr. was in St. Louis yesterday to officiate Energizer's Keep Going Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed each year to a person who -- like the batteries for which the award is named -- keeps going and going after others would quit.

Ripken was the first person inducted into Energizer's hall of fame back in 2006 -- a year before he was inducted into the baseball hall for his record-setting 2,632 consecutive games played.

Yesterday's Keep Going award honored Jennifer Goodman Linn and was accepted on behalf of her parents (above). Linn is a cancer survivor who founded Cycle for Survival, one of the fastest-growing cancer research fundraisers in the country. She couldn't attend yesterday's event because she's undergoing cancer treatment this week in New York.

Read more about her story after the jump...

In 2004, Jen was diagnosed with sarcoma - a rare form of cancer - and was told her odds of beating the disease were 50/50.

She has endured through five heartbreaking recurrences, eight courses of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors and six grueling surgeries to remove them over the past six years.

Demonstrating true Energizer Bunny® spirit, she refuses to give up. Jen vowed that if she survived, she would do something to express her gratitude. What began as a small indoor cycling event with 50 teams in 2007 is now Cycle for Survival, a 500-team event and one of the fastest-growing cancer research fundraisers in the country. Jen's determination, endless energy and positive attitude are an inspiration to everyone around her, as is the fact that she's raised more than $5 million to provide hope to millions of patients.
