Derrick Washington Arrested -- Again -- For Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

Former Mizzou tailback Derrick Washington was arrested early yesterday morning for assaulting an ex-girlfriend.

Nope, you're not experiencing deja vu. This is another assault, against another ex-girlfriend, and has nothing to do with the sexual assault charges from this past summer that got him kicked off the Mizzou football team.

This time, Washington was arrested for allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend in the face. When Columbia police arrived at her apartment around 1:30 a.m., they reported she had a bloody nose and a swollen forehead. Washington himself was nowhere to be found; the cops found him a couple of hours later at his own apartment, fast asleep.

The official charge against Washington today was third-degree domestic assault, a Class A misdemeanor. Washington has denied hitting the woman and posted $1,000 bond yesterday. Now he's back on the street and has plenty of time to prepare for his September 22 arraignment for the sexual assault charges filed against him last summer.

Oh, yeah, and go to class. The university very kindly let Washington keep his scholarship even though he's not allowed to play football anymore.
